What’s Your Twinkie Story?

What’s Your Twinkie Story?

Many moons/years ago, I bought and sold horses in the Pennsylvania tri-state area. I would attend a prestigious horse sale 3 times a year in Timonium, Maryland. There, I would bring students, and would have investor’s money, to purchase and resell lovely horses. What memories we created for a slew of kids…many of them Mom’s today, with their children being involved with horses. One special horse, Twinkie, stayed with us for years. He was a stunning palomino paint, with one blue eye. He was owned by a teenager, and he was greatly loved.

(This is Twinkie, on the right, as part of my phone screenshot.)

Eventually Twinkie went to live with a family in Virginia who loved him dearly. He spent his last years there, and a little over a week ago he passed away at the age of 26.

(Here he is giving kisses to Rachel!)

Of course, this led me to contact his previous owner, and we began a back and forth banter of so many wonderful memories. He touched so many lives in such a profound way. From the young teenager who bought him from me, to the family who cared for him in his later years.
I began (understandably so), to ponder and reminisce about the impact those years had on the horses, as well as the students.
Twinkie was just one of many, many horses who were at the barn, owned by students who took lessons, and were a part of the “barn tribe.”  The scores of lives the horses and I touched, the lives formed and shaped due to the intuitive wisdom of the horses was massive. Clearly, there was a huge impact back then. But, what about today? How am I impacting the lives of those in my “barn tribe” and beyond? Those questions and more led me to my most recent podcast… “What Is Your Twinkie Story?” The link is below.
